YotaPhone 2 To Be Launched In December

The smartphone maker finally gives us some details about what would be one of the most unique Android smartphones to be launched this year.

While we haven’t heard much from Russian smartphone maker Yota since the Mobile World Congress 2014 (MWC) in Barcelona, the smartphone maker did launch the original YotaPhone in a number of new markets this year including India. While the YotaPhone C9660 looks a bit too chunky, what everyone has been waiting for is the YotaPhone 2.

Well, the Russian company (that is all geared up to move to Canada) will be announcing the YotaPhone 2 in December. To be precise the Yota Devices just announced on Twitter that it would be launching the next version of the YotaPhone on the 3rd of December in London. So if you were thinking of buying a the original model here in India, we would suggest that you wait a little longer since the new version does pack in some much-needed power.

The pebble-shaped smartphone from Yota for once, comes with some impressive specifications. The design is simply eye-catching and the way the dual display has been laid out is very impressive. What comes inside in an updated Snapdragon 800 chipset from Qualcomm with the rest of the hardware specifications that are similar to the Google Nexus 5 with the addition of the power-saving always on 960 x 540 e-ink display for notifications.

While the launch markets for the YotaPhone 2 have not been specified, we guess that the device will launch in Russia first, followed by other European markets and then India and the East. Hopefully YotaPhone does include Android Lollipop inside instead of KitKat as it would be an added impetus for buyers who are going to buy a smartphone from an unknown brand in newer markets.
