Yahoo News Digest Goes Big Screen With The iPad

Brings along special iPad exclusive videos from news anchor Katie Couric.

Yahoo News Digest has finally touched down on the Apple iPad. Clearly this should have happened soon after the app was made available for the iPhone back in January this year. But Yahoo somehow seems to have skipped on the tablet device and then delivered it to Android users first. Well, now that it has finally delivered an iPad app, we know why it took so long.

The app is similar in many ways to the original iPhone app, but comes in a larger (and cleaner) tablet format. The UI is wider and kind of seems to waste a lot of space if you ask us. Still then it comes with one new addition; and that is a video special by renowned global news anchor Katie Couric, who will recap one news story from the past week. Of course this is going to be a weekly video (you cannot expect her to do a special for your iPad app everyday).

Another feature that is iPad exclusive, is the ability to change the time at which the news digest gets delivered to your device. Prior to the iPad app, the digest would be automatically delivered at a set time -- 8 AM in the morning and 6 PM in the evening. With the iPad app you can now set these timings between 6 AM to 10 AM for the morning digest and between 5 PM and 9 PM for the evening one. We have no clue how the content teams allow this, since the news digest does consist of hand-picked news after all; somehow Yahoo has managed to deliver something special once again.
