iPhone 6 May Skip The 32 GB Option; 128 GB Version Gets Confirmed

Looks like Apple will be finally delivering a higher capacity iPhone after all; but it is going to be pricey.

We have seen plenty of leaks about the upcoming iPhone 6 in the past but none like this. A leaked document from suppliers shows that there will in all probability be a 128 GB version of the iPhone 6. iOS fans have waited for a long time to see such internal memory capacities make its way onto the iPhone; and so it seems that Apple along with its bigger 4.7 inch display will also be delivering on the storage front.

The document clearly shows who is in charge of delivering what and by the looks of it Apple will be splitting production between SK Hynix and Toshiba. As for the handsets, they will come in 16, 64 and 128 GB flavours this time around. Yes, you read that right! There is no 32 GB option mentioned in the document.

The chart does indicate a lot of things that Apple may have noticed over the years as well. One of them being that most casual iPhone users buy the 16 GB version (now that 8 GB version is only available in the “affordable” range) and that very few buyers do go in for the most high-end version of the iPhone.

What we noticed from the same is that Apple will be pushing buyers (power users) to go in for the slightly higher priced 64 GB version this year. The pricey 128 GB version will be available in the tiniest of lots (only made by Toshiba), since not too many consumers will buy them any ways.

We can clearly see that Apple is trying to win Android fans over by luring them with bigger screens at first and now with bigger memory options as well. Out here in India, the differences (which are off-contract only) are vast.

The 16 GB version of the IPhone 5s sells for around Rs 41,000 while the 32 GB version is a big jump all the way up to Rs 62,000; with Apple tempting buyers to go in for the 64 GB version at Rs 70,000 instead.
