Microsoft Rolls Out A Big Update For Office Apps On iPad

The first update since launch includes third party font support and much more.

Microsoft clearly has its eyes set on pushing its services to other platforms, in an effort to lure more users to its services. One of those efforts saw the Office for iPad release which bought desktop like editing features to the iPad. Now, the company has finally pushed out an update that will allow you to do a lot more including the use of third-party fonts in your documents.

The apps will still require a Office 365 subscription, and while everything seems almost the same on the top, deep down below, there have been many minor changes.

For beginners, Word, Excel and PowerPoint will now support export files to the PDF format. The apps also get a handy and much missed Picture Tool that will allow you to crop images before placing them in your documents. Third-party font support is now available and works pretty much flawlessly.

What’s new in PowerPoint is the Presenter View, that allows the presenter a view of the current ,previous and upcoming slides while presenting. Annotations, hyperlinks and and background music have all made it to this update, making PowerPoint on your iPad an impressively powerful tool after all.

Excel has also seen some changes with simpler flick to select and with the addition of Pivot Tables as well.
