Taiwanese phone manufacturer Oplus has launched its XonPhone 5 smartphone in India, which features a 5-inch HD display and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. The device is priced at Rs 7,999 and will be available exclusively via online retailer Snapdeal.

As mentioned earlier the XonPhone 5 features a 5-inch HD (1280x720 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor. The phone also comes packing 1GB of RAM and 16GB on onboard storage, which users can expand by using a microSD card.

In terms of imaging the device features an 8MP primary camera coupled to a flash mobule at the rear, while the front gets a 2MP shooter. The device runs on Google's latest version of Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box. Connectivity options include support for dual SIM cards, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and even FM radio.

Rounding up the basic hardware specifications is a 2,000mAh battery, which considering the device's screen size might end up running out of juice before the end of the day.

"We are extremely elated to be launching the XonPhone 5... Our association with India's largest marketplace, Snapdeal.com has yielded us great results for our tablet and we are affirmative that our smartphone will also witness great acceptance from the users," said Soumitra Gupta, CEO of Oplus.
