MWC 2012: LG Announces Optimus Vu

Sports a 5" screen to take on the GALAXY Note.

Remember the teaser video of LG's oddly-shaped handset, the Optimus Vu? It has now been officially announced by the Korean giant, and as expected, sports a 5" screen with an aspect ratio of 4:3. LG's press release confirms that the device is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz CPU, coupled with an Adreno 220 GPU. Other specs include Wi-Fi, GPS, 8 mp primary and 1.3 mp front camera, HDMI port, and a 2080 mAh battery. The device measures 5.5" (l) x 3.5" (w) x 0.3" (8.5 mm) (d), and weighs 168 grammes.

With this size and powerful hardware, the mobile is set to take on Samsung's GALAXY Note. The Vu features Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) out of the box, but LG has promised the ICS update in a month or two. The device's pricing and availability will be disclosed at the Mobile World Congress 2012.
