Leak: Microsoft Will Roll Out the Windows 8.1 Update 2 On August 12

The update will have more to do with improving stability rather than adding new front-end features.

Microsoft is supposedly all set to roll-out the Windows 8.1 Update 2 on August 12, which will enhance stability rather than add front end features. The update will be quite small in comparison to the previous one and will not add the highly anticipated Start Menu that the company teased at Build 2014.

According to a Neowin report, Update 2 should be a part of 'Patch Tuesday' which falls on the 12th of next month. A document obtained by the publication seems to be an official Microsoft document ascertains the same, but there's no way of verifying its legitimacy.

That said, what the document states is in line with reports that have been cropping up over the past couple of days about Windows 8.1 Update 2. From the latest leak, we'd believe that the update will not be a major one with no huge changes being made to the useability of the software.

With other reports suggesting Microsoft could roll out Windows 8.2 before it releases the wholly new version of Windows software, we'd expect design changes and the addition of a Start Menu in that release. Still, given that all the information currently available is via leaks, their credibility isn't assured.
