Microsoft’s New Video Editing App Lets You Be The Director

The Video Tuner app is available only for Windows Phone 8.1 devices; should we expect an update soon?

Microsoft has launched a brand new app for video editing on Windows Phone 8.1 devices simply called Video Tuner. Yes, in case you were wondering, its just the Lumia 630 in India for now that can run it apart from the guys using the Developer Preview on the handsets.

The app coming from Microsoft brings a couple of impressive new features like live previews while editing and much more, setting it apart form other third party apps that we have seen before after the announcement of Windows Phone 8.1.

Microsoft has actually managed to impress us for the first time (considering how sad the default Xbox Music and Video apps clearly are) and adds the usual filters, cropping and the ability to add music to your video clips. What it does differently, is that all of this happens while the video is playing. This is pretty impressive and clearly, Microsoft has worked it out pretty well, considering that the app works flawlessly on our Lumia 630 with just 512 MB RAM.

Its nice to be able to preview the video while editing; again the editing controls have been neatly segregated and laid out allowing for ease of use for inexperienced users as well.

This is due to the new API that Windows Phone 8.1 brought to game which allows all of this. Lets hope to see something creative done with the bland music and video apps as well.
