A Lower-Specd LG Handset Shows Up On Import Listings; Is This The LG G3 Mini?

With a puny 5 mega-pixel camera, we doubt that the device would qualify as a ‘Mini’, keeping in mind the flagship LG G3.

A LG handset seems to have shown up on Zauba’s import listings. The handset listed as the LGD722 comes with a 4.5 inch display and some pretty decent specifications and the big question is this the expected LG G3 Mini.

While many have been raving about how the device is the LG G3 Mini, we have our doubts. The leaked information shows that the handset comes with 4.5 inch screen, which is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. The device comes with 8GB of internal memory with no mention of the RAM size either. While the rest of the specifications do qualify as something that would be the ‘Mini’ version of a flagship, the 5MP camera certainly makes no sense.

Manufacturers like Samsung, HTC and Sony often create lower-priced versions of their flagship devices and cut down on the hardware bits to save on costs. HTC launched the One Mini 2 and Samsung’s rumoured GALAXY S5 Mini also seems to be pretty legit considering that they have done the same in the past.

HTC’s One Mini 2 also comes with similar specifications and a 5MP snapper, but also comes with that premium metal finish which kind of makes up for everything else. Hence a plastic device from LG in a ‘Mini’ form makes no sense as it would push the handset into the budget segment alongside the Moto G.

It is notable that LG has other handsets reserved for that range.
