After The HTC One (M8), The Galaxy S5 Gets Its Own ‘Mini’

With impressive specs, the handset is confirmed to sport a Snapdragon processor.

Samsung has been on a roll with its GALAXY S5 launch lately. The device is already up for pre-order here in India and will go on sale shortly thereafter. But just like the HTC One (M8) mini, which just hit the rumour mill yesterday, the S5 also seems to have its own S5 mini which will launch soon.

SamMobile.com confirmed the news that the GALAXY S5 Mini is indeed coming. What’s more, is that they have even confirmed the hardware specifications for the same. As we spoke about the HTC One (M8) Mini yesterday, we as focused on whether the Mini would be a water-down ‘mini’ or a flagship specd ‘compact’ similar to Sony’s Xperia Z1 Compact.

From the details which have been supposedly confirmed by insiders, the GALAXY S5 Mini will some mid-range hardware specifications. On the outside would be a 4.5 inch (720p) Super AMOLED display with a 2 MP front facing snapper. On the inside, will be a Snapdragon processor (not confirmed which one) with 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The phone will run Android’s latest and greatest KitKat and will all be powered by a 2100 mAh battery unit.

It is still not confirmed whether the S5 Mini will also come with the S5’s heart rate monitor and IP67 certification. If not for the heart rate monitor, we would at least like to see the IP67 certification getting pushed on the GALAXY S5 Mini. There is no word on the pricing just yet, but the device is expected to be launched in April this year.
