LG Unveils Bluetooth Controlled "Smart" Bulbs For Lazy People

Launched in Korea, Smart Bulbs can be controlled with your smartphone.

 

Philips has always played around with the idea of "smart" and energy efficient home lighting. Now it seems, LG is also bringing its expertise in this field. The company has launched its Smart Bulbs in Korea. Compatible with your standard light socket, these bulbs can be controlled by your smartphone (using Bluetooth).

These Smart Bulbs come with some unique features such as ‘Security Mode’ and ‘Play Mode’.

Home security mode is ideal when the owner is outside the house. In this mode, the bulb automatically switches on and off at a regular interval. This should give thieves an impression that someone is there inside the house (yes, we hope it does).

‘Play Mode’ will sync the lighting according to the music played on your phone. So if there are some quick beats playing on your phone, expect the lights to blink. This feature is only supported by Android phones. According to LG, you can also programme these 60 W LED bulbs to flash when you receive a call.

The LG Smart Bulb has been priced at 35,000 Korean Won (approx. Rs 1900). LG claims that these bulbs can last up to a decade if used for 5 hours a day.
