Microsoft To Launch Office 365 Subscription Service For Individuals

Office 365 Personal will become available to users between March-April.

Microsoft has been offering a subscription version of Office since late 2012, but only now has it begun aggressively pushing the service for individuals. The company has announced that it will launch the personal subscription service that gives the user access to Office applications on one PC/Mac and one tablet.

Office 365 Personal will become available to users between March-April for just $7 per month or $70 for a full year. The service will undercut Microsoft's current Office 365 Home Premium offering which available for $10 per month, but gives access to Office application access across five PCs or Macs.

“We recognize that there are households of all shapes and sizes and we’re committed to delivering the right Office for everyone – whether that be one person or an entire household,” the company stated on its official blog.

Further, Microsoft has announced that it will continue to offer its Office 365 Home Premium service, which will be renamed to Office 365 Home. The move comes soon after Microsoft announced that it has over 3.5 million subscribers for its Office 365 service this month, up from 2 million in October last year.

The company now hopes to increase this growth further with the launch of its cheaper Office 365 Personal subscription service. Moreover, the move signifies Microsoft's renewed focus on the individual rather than just enterprise users.
