Flappy Birds' Developer Was Inspired By The Good-Old Paddleball

Developer Dong Nguyen shares his inspirations and future plans with Rolling Stone magazine.

 

A few month's ago, the name Dong Nguyen didn't mean anything to the Internet. In fact even after the viral success of the game Flappy Birds, not many were aware of the developer behind it. What drew our attention to this young game developer from Van Phuc, Vietnam was his decision to pull the game down from all stores.

He was happy with the game's success, but he did not like the attention he was getting. It’s not the money and the success, but the unwanted chaos that prompted him to take the harsh decision.

Rolling Stone magazine had a one on one with the young developer who let go of a game that was generating almost $50,000 a day in ad-revenue. Read his story about all the why’s and how’s of his personal life and how he got inspired by the simple Paddleball to create game-making history. It’s not the end of the road though as the developer plans to release Flappy Bird once again and some more simple games in the coming months.
