Qualcomm Toq Smartwatch Will Launch On 2nd December

The gadget boasts of a power-efficient, colour display.

After Sony, Pebble, and Samsung, it's now time for Qualcomm to enter the smartwatch arena. Dubbed as Toq, this gadget is only compatible with Android devices. The watch itself runs on the chipmaker's home-brewed platform. The software must be highly-optimised, considering that Toq has a 200 MHz processor. What makes this device stand out, is its Mirasol display, which is said to be as power efficient as E-ink displays. Qualcomm claims that the screen remains clearly visible even in direct sunlight. When paired to a smartphone, this watch can display calls, texts, and emails notifications.

Along with the smartwatch, you'll get stereo wireless Toq headset and an induction charging accessory. Let's hope that with a relatively low-powered CPU, Qualcomm's Toq will offer better battery life as compared to Samsung's GALAXY Gear, which has a standby time of 24 hours.

The Toq will be launched on 2nd December. It's priced at $350, and will be available on the company's official website: toq.qualcomm.com.
