XOLO Launches Its Tegra-powered Play Tab 7.0 With A Stiff Price Tag

Priced at Rs 13,000, it would be a hard-sell against the Nexus 7.

XOLO, known for its cost effective Android smartphones, has added a first Tegra-powered tablet to its portfolio. Dubbed as Play Tab 7.0, the slate is meant to please the gamers with its 12-core NVIDIA ULP GeForce GPU. It features a unique quad-core architecture and a fifth battery-saver core to conserve the battery life. The 7-incher sports an IPS screen with in 1280x800 pixels. Similar to the recently released Play T1000 smartphone, this tablet comes with TegraZone that provides access to Tegra-optimised games.

The XOLO Play Tab 7.0 ships with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), which is a bit dated. The tablet is available through retail stores across the country for Rs 13,000. I think XOLO has got its pricing wrong since the Nexus 7 sells for Rs 10,000. For those not in the know, ASUS’s tablet comes with a better HD screen and the same Tegra 3 SoC. The only notable advantage with the Play Tab 7.0 is the option to expand the storage further using a MicroSD card.
