Facebook Enables Shared Photo Albums, A Common Repository Of Images

Will allow multiple users to upload and share photos of an event in a single album.

 

Facebook has now enabled a feature that will allow multiple users to upload pictures to a single album shared between them. Any user can create an album and select up to 50 of his/her friends as Contributors to the album. These friends can upload up to 200 images each to this album, which will also appear on their Timelines. The creator of the album can also decide whether or not to allow these Contributors to invite others to the album or he/she can opt to exercise total control over this feature.

Until now, it was only possible for users to upload photos to albums of their own creation. Also, the number of photos that could be uploaded to such albums was limited to 1000. Currently, this feature is only available for desktop users, but it will also appear on mobile soon. Also, the 200 photos per contributor limit will eventually be raised. This feature to share images into a common album would be particularly helpful in scenarios such as finding photos from a particular event at one place, which otherwise would be scattered across various accounts. If used smartly, one can also eliminate duplication of content in the shared album.
