Apple's Jonathan Ive To Attain Knighthood

That's Sir Jonathan Ive to you.

Steve Jobs will always be hailed for making Apple the brand that it is today, but his death did put the focus back on the people responsible for designing the company's highly acclaimed products. Finally Apple Design Chief Jonathan Ive will soon be knighted by the Queen of England. Ive, fondly known as Jony, joined Apple in 1992 and hasn't looked back ever since.

Described by Jobs as his "spiritual partner" in his biography, Apple's Senior Vice President of Industrial Design will earn the title of Sir and would be made a Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. This is the second honour to be bestowed upon him from Brit Royalty. In 2005 he was made the Commander of the British Empire (CBE).

On the occasion Ive said, "I am keenly aware that I benefit from a wonderful tradition in the UK of designing and making. I discovered at an early age that all I've ever wanted to do is design". It's a pity though that the accolades don't come from Apple itself. I wonder if the Queen will use an aluminium unibody long sword to knight him?
