WhatsApp Introduces Dialling Feature In WP8 Update

New emoticons are also part of the latest version.

WhatsApp, which is arguably the most popular messaging multiplatform app right now, has finally introduced a feature that lets you make voice calls right through the app. However, we suggest you hold on to your horses as this calling is not free. Just like the Android and iOS version, WhatsApp allows you to make calls by simply providing a dial button that uses the phone's dialler, which basically means that you will be making direct phone calls, routed through the app. This also means that you will have to pay the carrier charges, as applicable. Apart from that, New Emoticons have also been introduced in the update.

This is really a big disappointment, because WhatsApp already allows you to use your handset's internet capabilities to send text messages and even share files, it would not have been difficult to add a voice calling functionality using VoIP. Other messaging clients such as LINE and Viber already offer this functionality, which even works rather satisfactorily over a 2G connection. While we are not against the new Emoticons that the company has introduced in this update, we can only hope that it introduces features that will add something really useful that will have a greater impact, as well as appeal to its subscriber base.
