Samsung GALAXY Ace 3 Now Made Official

Extends Samsung's GALAXY Ace budget smartphone range, runs on Android 4.2.

The Samsung GALAXY Ace 3 was a subject of speculation since it surfaced in a Benchmark test, and has now been officially announced by Samsung at an event in Seoul, South Korea. The GALAXY Ace 3 would come in both single-SIM as well as dual-SIM variants, providing 3G connectivity. The latest entry (model S7270) improves upon its predecessor (GALAXY Ace 2) in terms of a bigger display, newer operating platform, RAM, and is lighter this time around.

Hardware wise, Samsung GALAXY Ace 3 has a 4-inch display, runs the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Android platform, has 1GB internal RAM and weighs in at 115 grams. It also has a host of software features built-in such as S Translator, S Travel, Smart Stay, S Voice and Easy mode. The camera also brings in some interesting software features from the Galaxy S4, such as Sound & Shot, Best Photo, and Buddy Photo Share.

Technical Specifications of the smartphone are as follows:

  • 4.0 inch WVGA LCD display, 480x800 pixels
  • Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system, Google Play, Samsung Hub
  • dual-SIM supporting variant
  • 1GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM, 4GB internal memory
  • MicroSD card slot for expansion up to 64GB
  • 5MP rear camera, and a front VGA camera
  • Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi and 3G/LTE connectivity
  • Accelerometer, Digital Compass and Proximity sensors
  • 1,500 mAh battery

Pricing of the GALAXY Ace 3 in India is unknown as yet. Since its predecessor, the GALAXY Ace 2 has a price tag of around Rs 15K, we expect the new GALAXY Ace to be priced competitively in India, especially with Nokia's Lumia 520 (priced at Rs 10K) capturing the fancy of people preferring budget smartphones.
