Xolo Q1000 Heading For June Launch?

This smartphone is expected to arrive with technical specifications equivalent to that of Micromax A116 Canvas HD.

Xolo which offers its relatively low-cost smartphone range in India (popular ones being its X900, A1000 and its first B series smartphone viz B700), is readying another quad-core smartphone for launch. If a report published in Android Nova is to be believed, this new smartphone model named Xolo Q1000 will have a price tag of between Rs 14K-Rs 15K. The Xolo Q1000 is claimed to launch in the June 2013 time period. The tech specs that have surfaced so far are:

  • 5" HD display (density of ~294 ppi)
  • Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system
  • 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • dual-SIM support
  • 8 MP rear camera, and a 1.2 MP front camera
  • 4 GB internal storage
  • microSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB
  • 3G, Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity
  • 2100 mAh battery

Android Nova mentions that the Xolo Q1000 may have outscored Micromax's A116 Canvas HD in Antutu and Nenamark 2 Benchmark tests. Before coming to any conclusions however, it would be worth waiting for the Xolo Q1000 to make its debut in the Indian smartphone market. Considering the expected price tag of the Q1000, the device competes in that aspect with the Micromax A116 Canvas HD (priced at Rs 13K online).

Where technical specifications of the A116 Canvas HD and Xolo Q1000 are concerned, the Q1000 scores with its Android 4.2 platform, which would be better in comparison to the A116 Canvas' Android 4.1 OS. Considering the similarity of hardware though, we won't be surprised if you could just take the newer Android phone's ROM and apply it to the older device, making it an easy upgrade.
