The update will bring features such as Google Now, Project Butter enhancements, and improvements in the user interface, among other things.

Samsung is now seeding Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) update for its entry-level GALAXY Chat (B5330) handset. The update is available via Samsung Kies as well as OTA (over-the-air). Users can check if their handset is eligible by going to the Settings >> About Phone >> Software update >> Update menu. Samsung's GALAXY Chat had been released last year, and is currently priced at Rs 7,900.

Android 4.1.2 will bring a slew of features including support for Google Now, Project Butter enhancements, improvements in the user interface and notifications, and a much-needed performance boost for a low-specced phone. The build number has a code of B5330UMD2, and is a 322 MB file.

Samsung's GALAXY Chat comes with a 3" touchscreen of 240x320 pixels, a 2 MP rear camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and A-GPS, as well as a QWERTY keypad: Its touch-and-type interface being the device's main USP. The handset comes pre-installed with the ChatON messenger app, which is somewhat similar to BBM (BlackBerry Messenger).
