Sony Xperia L Now Up For Pre-Order

Smartphone runs Android 4.1.2 out of the box, and competes with the recently launched Nokia Lumia 720 in terms of technical specifications and pricing.

Sony Xperia L that was launched in March along with another Sony smartphone, the Xperia SP, is now available for pre-ordering from e-commerce site Infibeam for a price of Rs 18,990. Infibeam says that this smartphone would start shipping within 2-3 business days after its release. The release date of the Xperia L is mentioned on Infibeam as 8 May. How the Xperia L fares against the Nokia Lumia 720 (already in market at a price of Rs 18,000) needs to be watched out for.

Key tech specs of the Sony Xperia L:

  • 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen
  • Android 4.1.2 operating system
  • 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor
  • 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front snapper
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8 GB internal storage (5.5 GB for user data)
  • microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 32GB
  • Accelerometer, proximity, compass sensors
  • Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, A-GPS and micro-USB connectivity supported
  • 1750 mAh Li-ion battery

These specs are comparable to the Nokia Lumia 720 that runs on the Windows Phone 8 operating system (with Live Tiles) for a slight edge over the Xperia L. Otherwise, Sony's Xperia L betters Lumia 720 in terms of the primary camera (Lumia 720 has a 6.7 MP primary camera). If you are looking at value for money though, consider the Nokia Lumia 720.
