Lava Set To Launch India's First Android 4.2 Tablet With 7" Screen

The yet-to-be-named Jelly Bean slate will feature a dual-core CPU, dual cameras, and powerful battery.

Lava is said to be preparing its first Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) tablet, which it also claims will be India's first. The company press release further mentions that this tablet will be available in the first week of May this year. Its specifications include a 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of internal storage, along with support for up to 32 GB via microSD card. There will also be two cameras: a 2 mp snapper at the rear and a 0.3 mp at the front for video chat. The device will support Wi-Fi, but not cellular connectivity.

The 7" slate with an IPS screen is also said to pack in an HDMI port to play movies on a bigger display. The device's specs almost match the recently-launched and reviewed eTab Xtron from the same company, which features a rather crisp 7" IPS screen with pixel dimensions of 1024x600, a robust build, and offers smooth performance at an affordable price of Rs 6500. This tablet is expected to be a successor to the eTab Xtron and shouldn't cost more than Rs 7000.
