Datawind Ubislate 7C+ Edge Tablet Available Online, At Rs 6000

7-inch tablet with Android 4.0 being sold after the failed Aakash project, is priced too high.

The makers of India's notoriously "famous" Aakash tablet are at it again. This time with their new Ubislate 7C+ Edge that is available online via Snapdeal, at a price of Rs 5999. Considering the tech specs, we think the tablet device is priced about one-third higher than it should be.

As you'd expect, the Ubislate 7C+ Edge is better specced than the Aakash 2. Ubislate 7C+ Edge has a 7-inch display with 800x480 pixels and runs on Android 4.0 Ice-Cream Sandwich operating system, whereas the Aakash 2 runs on Android 2.2 Froyo platform, and has a 7-inch screen.

Major tech specs of the Ubislate 7C+ Edge as listed on Snapdeal, are detailed below:

  • 1GHz Cortex A8 processor
  • 512MB RAM
  • 4GB internal memory (expandable up to 32GB with micro-SD card)
  • VGA front camera
  • EDGE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n) connectivity
  • 3.5mm audio jack

For comparison, the similarly configured Micromax Funbook Infinity at a price of Rs 4949 would be a better option, and would also support 3G unlike the Ubislate 7C+ Edge.
