Zync Launches Three New Tablets Running Android 4.1

Of the three Jelly Bean based tablets - Dual 7.0, Quad 8.0, and the Quad 9.7, the last one boasts an iPad 3-style retina display.

Looks like those looking for a budget tablet option just got lucky. Zync has launched three new tablets with different screen sizes and processors. Dubbed the Dual 7.0, Quad 8.0, and Quad 9.7 the slates running Android Jelly Bean 4.1 do have a few tall claims to make. How much of them will come true, we'd only find out after a review. For now though, here's what the press release has to say about each of these tabs. For detailed specs, scroll to the bottom.

First up is the Dual 7.0, which is the cheapest of the lot. Like the name suggests, the 7-inch tab features a dual-core 1.6 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM and, 8 GB of internal storage. The Android 4.1 based tablet also packs in a 0.3 MP front camera and a 2 MP main camera, all for just Rs 6000.

The Quad 8.0 and the Quad 9.7 are somewhat similar, save for a few details. Both are powered by a Mali-400 GPU, 1.5 GHz quad-core CPU, and 2 GB of RAM. Both come with 16 GB of internal storage, 2 MP front and 5 MP back cameras. The Quad 8.0 and the Quad 9.7 have been priced at Rs 13,000 and Rs 14,000 respectively.

Quad 9.7 though, seems to be the company's answer to Apple's iPad 3. It boasts of an LED-backlit Super HD IPS Display with pixel dimensions of 2048x1536, which is said to be "equivalent to Apple's iPad 3 Retina Display".

Going by its specifications and price, the Quad 9.7 just might end up being the Canvas HD of Tablets in terms of buzz, anticipation, and value. A mere mention of Retina Display in a tablet may or may not interest the good old tablet giant but is bound to stir its fan-boys and detractors alike. Rest assured, this is not the first self-proclaimed iPad-killer, and by the likes of it, surely will not be the last!
