Twitter Starts Rolling Out Option To Download All Your Tweets

Now you can keep a backup of what you had for lunch a year ago.

Having an offline backup of your data is always useful, and Google has always been a more-or-less strong proponent of the idea. Along those lines, Twitter has started rolling out the option to download your Twitter archive to a small subset of users.

To check if you are in that subset, head over to your Settings pane on Twitter and scroll to the bottom to check if you have the option to "Request Your Archive".

Once you make a request, you will receive an email when the archive is ready, with a link to download the archive. Your tweet history will consist of HTML files packed in a ZIP archive, with options to search through your tweet history and view them organised by year. Check out this link to see what an archive looks like.

Twitter has stated that it is testing this feature at the moment. If you don't see the download option yet, you'll have to wait just a while — it'll soon be available.
