The LG Optimus 2X Will Get ICS Eventually

LG has mentioned on another Facebook page this time that the Optimus 2X will indeed get Android 4.0.

After reports about the LG Optimus 2X not receiving the ICS update arrived, people were rather infuriated with the company. Well, now with the company changing its tone all of a sudden, it certainly seems like there was some miscommunication. The South Korean manufacturer has announced on a different Facebook page this time (LG Mobile) that the rumors which have been circulating on the web so far are false and that the company will indeed provide the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update when it is made available to them by Google. This comes as great news to all the disappointed users who were upset about the announcement made earlier. What's interesting though is that both the reports come from the LG camp (though they came from two different Facebook pages), so I guess there's very little co-ordination inside the company.

LG also mentioned that other LG high-end smartphones will be getting the update, though there was no mention of any specific handset other than the Optimus 2X. It seems like the Optimus line of handsets will receive the update (Optimus 3D and Optimus Black) which is again good news. The update schedule is not out yet, but we can expect LG to say a word or two about it in the coming days. Users can expect the update to hit their smartphones by the first half of 2012, which is precisely when Samsung smartphones are said to get the update. Life certainly seems good now for LG smartphone owners, so be sure to keep an eye out for any new developments on LG's Facebook page.
