Micromax's Upcoming Android 4.0 Based 5" A100 Phone Spotted On HomeShop18.com

Contains dual-SIM functionality and 5 mp camera, but is currently listed as out of stock.

Whether or not the GALAXY Note makes you look like a dork is a matter of debate. However, it cannot be denied that Samsung's "phablet" is quite popular in our country, especially among followers of the "badaa hai to behtar hai" philosophy (read: gujjus). Now it appears that Micromax too wants in on this craze, considering it's all set to launch a 5" smartphone called the A100.

Although there's no official announcement yet from Micromax's side, the product has already been listed on HomeShop18.com for Rs 10,000, though it's currently unavailable for purchase as it's "Out of Stock". According to the listing, the A100's 5" screen has pixel dimensions of 480x854, which is several rungs below the Note's 800x1280 display. Here's the list of detailed specs:

  • Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
  • 5.6" (l) x 2.9" (w) x 0.5" (12 mm) (d), 168 grammes.
  • 5 mp camera with video recording and LED flash.
  • Dual-SIM, dual-standby (GSM 900 \ 1800 \ 1900 MHz), 3G supported.
  • 5" screen with pixel dimensions of 480x854.
  • GPS (with A-GPS), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (A2DP).
  • Internal 4 GB storage, 32 GB memory card slot.
  • FM radio, 3.5mm jack, accelerometer.
  • 2000 mAh Lithium-Ion battery with up to 5 hours of talk time.
  • Supported multimedia formats: 3GP, MP4, MP3, MIDI, AMR; allows sound and call recording.
  • Package contents: Mobile phone, Battery, Charger, Earphone, User manual, Data cable, Service centre list, one year warranty.

Currently, there's no information regarding the device's main hardware, the CPU and RAM. Regardless, I can bet this news has made "bigger is better" cling to the edge of their seats with excitement, since they now get to show off as much as GALAXY Note owners, but at one-third the price. All in all, if the pricing turns out to be reliable, this is one product that's set to light the market on fire. How successful do you think the A100 will be? Let us know in the comments.
