Apple iPhone 8 May Feature USB Type C Port

Reports state that the ditching of the lightning port is to maintain industry standard.

We have seen many flagship smartphones being launched in the past few days but one big announcement still awaits us. Yes, it’s Apple’s upcoming phone which is often called as iPhone 8 or sometimes as the 10th Anniversary iPhone. However, the name is not yet clear.

According to a recently published post on GSMArena, The Wall Street Journal has mentioned that the upcoming iPhone would be sporting a USB Type C port instead of the Apple’s proprietary Lightning port, while quoting some of its sources in an article.

Well, if reports are to be believed, the Apple’s move of ditching the Lightning connector is simply to maintain the industry standard. And, if you can recall, this is going to be the second change since Tim Cook officially introduced lightning in September 2012 instead of the 30-pin connector.

Along with this, the Wall Street Journal also mentions about the curved OLED display, without a home button. If you can recall, rumours earlier suggested that the upcoming iPhone with 5.8 inch OLED display would be ditching away the home button and instead, come up with something called as ‘Function area’. However, these are just rumours, and so as you know, you may have to take this with a pinch of salt.
