Shatters the previous record held by the iPhone 4.
Apple has announced that the iPhone 4S has crossed a million pre-orders within a day of its launch. It has surpassed the previous record of 6,00,000 held by its predecessor, the iPhone 4. The new device comes with exciting features such as a dual-core A5 chip for faster performance and better graphics, a new 8 MP camera with better optics and capable of shooting 1080p videos, and Siri, an intelligent assistant which obeys voice commands to make things easier.
Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing, Philip Schiller said, "We are blown away with the incredible customer response to iPhone 4S. The first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched and we are thrilled that customers love iPhone 4S as much as we do".
The iPhone 4 includes the newest iOS 5 with over 200 new features and iCloud, which is a cloud service to sync with other Apple devices. It will come in black or white colours, with 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB capacities. It will be available in several countries from October 14, though it is not mentioned when it will be launched in India. If history is to serve any indication, we are still a good year away from seeing its official launch in the country.
