Now Hear Your News On The NewsDistill App

Indian language support, contextual personalization, news comparison, and recommendation engine stand out in the app.

Gone are the times when one needed to read through news apps to get the news; with NewsDistill they can get to hear it too! If one is engaged in another physically involving task like driving, cooking, or running, NewsDistill will read out the content for the user, applicable across languages and news categories. Other than that, it allows the user to choose latest and trending news from different categories and filter news-feeds from preferred publishers, browse other articles while to another article, and do all of this offline as well. Till now, the application was known to support Hindi, Telegu, English, but the latest version will bring in Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Kannada, and Tamil news as well.

NewsDistill is the first news aggregator to introduce Contextual Personalization. One can personalize news feed by publisher (and/or), topics (and/or), languages (and/or), locations. Meaning, if one wishes to read political and entertainment news from two popular publishers in Hindi language, or entertainment news from three popular publishers in English, it is simply a click away. Additionally, one can enable notifications for a specific personalized news feed.

These are not just the end of the features. The app is also the first news aggregator to introduce news comparison. Articles and videos are grouped by topic so that the user can read and compare similar topics from different publishers instantly, thus enhancing the entire news consumption experience. If a reader likes an article but wishes to read it later, then the reader can have to it saved in Pocket and read at their convenient time, even without internet connection! The articles thus saved are automatically organized as per their category of origin.

The recommendation engine is the highlight capability of the app. NewsDistill came up with a smart recommendation engine to suggest news based on user interests. It automatically detects one’s interests based on their activity and suggests latest articles and videos amongst regional languages as well.

“We are delighted to launch the latest version. Now user can read more topics in less time, personalize news-feeds and compare news from different publishers instantly. Currently, we are launching NewsPlayer in Hindi and English and it will be very soon available in other regional languages,” said Bhaskar Reddy, the Vice President of Marketing, NewsDistill while speaking briefly about the new app.

The ambitious plans are actually quiet notable; 2 million users by end of 2016 and be a provider of news from virtually part of the country. While its features get revealed with usage, it is recommended for download from the Google Play store.
