DyshApp’s GiveBack Program To Help Donate Meals

The company’s giveback program #DyshFeeds aims to donate meals to help fight food in security in America.

Food wastage is a social issue just like food shortage. Be it at home or restaurants, people tend to cook and order more than what they actually need to satisfy their hunger. Dysh, the smartphone app that allows users to get straight to the plate by finding, sharing, and rating food at the dish-level, has announced its giveback program, #DyshFeeds. With an aim to make a difference in the community, #DyshFeeds aims to address food insecurity in America by donating to national hunger organizations on behalf of active Dysh app users.

Already existing within the app, Dysh engages users with a gamification feature that rewards them with points for taking actions like posting, commenting, and sharing dishes.  These points allow users to climb higher in the ranks and raise their Dysh status. When a new status is reached, meals will be donated to feed the hungry. The higher one's status, the more meals a user is able to donate. Dysh users will be able to track the number of meals they have personally helped donate alongside watching the total number of meals the company has donated.

The program was developed by founder and CEO, Ashley King, who initially led all philanthropic initiatives for The Honest Company. King states, "Building Dysh as a socially conscious company has been part of my vision from the beginning. I wanted to build something that makes a difference in the lives of both users and those in the extended community."

Partner and lead investor Brian Lee echoes this sentiment, "Giving back is important to me and integral to Dysh. As a user, you can have fun and post, get information about local food, and help feed the hungry at the same time. Let's all feed the hungry together!"

Members of Dysh's founding team, dubbed the original "Taste Buds," help lead the launch of this give back initiative. YouTube sensations Hannah Hart, Mamrie Hart, Grace Helbig, and Ingrid Nilsen are compelled to be part of a platform for food lovers that aligns with their own personal commitments to social change.Hannah Hart, who has been active in addressing hunger-related initiatives by activating her fans with "Have a Hart Day" nationwide, brings her passion from working with community-based food banks to Dysh Feeds. Hart adds, "The Internet is a wonderful platform to use to give back. But being a part of a social feed that actually feeds others!? Dream come true! Fun and fulfilling tech is a future I'm proud to be a part of."

Headquartered in El Segundo, California, and founded as Toast Labs Inc. in late 2014, Dysh was created to change the way people engage with food.

Here in India be it at pompous wedding, restaurants and even at home there are no second thoughts about wasting food. We have seen the rise and fall of numerous food based start-ups in the country, maybe they should take a cue from Dysh.
