Video Games To Look Out For In 2013

Many would say the year gone by was a decent one for gaming. 2012 saw good variety in games, from the artistic type to sports simulators. The year also saw sequels to popular games, including Mass Effect 3 and Max Payne 3. So what does 2013 have in store?

Grand Theft Auto V
Release Date: Q2 2013

GTA V will be the 15th in the massively popular open-world game series. Yep, it has come a long way. Rockstar Studios, the developer, is leaving no stone unturned with this one, claiming that it will be the biggest open-world GTA game to date. GTA V will be set in the fictional city of Los Santos, first introduced in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas way back in 2004.

The Last of Us
Release Date: 7th May 2013

Gamers of the survival-horror genre have something to look forward to. Naughty Dog, the developers behind the beautifully crafted Uncharted series on the PS3, are busy developing their next big game. The game is set to reintroduce zombies to gamers; it features a two-person team fighting for survival in a post-apocalyptic environment.

God of War: Ascension
Release Date: 12th March, 2013

God of War: Ascension will be a prequel to the God of War series, which essentially redefined story-telling in video games. Ascension will tell the story of how Kratos was tricked into murdering his wife and child. It will also be the first multiplayer God of War game.

DmC: Devil May Cry
Release Date: 15th January, 2013

Capcom's hack-and-slash game series Devil May Cry has a decent fan following. Close to two years in the making, the upcoming game will put players back in the shoes of its main protagonist, Dante. As always, you will have to fight your way through a horde of demons.

Crysis 3
Release Date: 19th February, 2013

Crysis 3 will essentially be about jaw-dropping graphics and immersive sound — and a bit of gameplay thrown in. You will be taking control of "Prophet" as he returns to New York City to kill alien scum. There's no doubt that the game will be a technological achievement — you might have to upgrade your PC to play this, but it will have been worth it!

Tomb Raider
Release Date: 5th March, 2013

Easily the biggest gaming franchise of all. The newest Lara Croft game will be a much-needed reboot of the entire Tomb Raider series. The game will be set on a tropical island where Lara Croft was washed ashore after being in a shipwreck. Players are in a for visual treat while exploring (and surviving) the island.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Release Date: 19th February, 2013

With multiple cancellations and rescheduling, fans have been waiting for a new game in the Metal Gear series for quite a while. Konami, the game's publisher, claims it will be a spinoff and not tied to the main storyline. That apart, the new game will be set four years after the events of its predecessor — MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots.
