XBR-84X900 4K TV
Sony's XBR-84X900 launch was surely the highlight if this event. Why wouldn't it be? This mammoth 84" 4K television uses "4K X-Reality PRO" technology (developed by Sony) to upscale HD digital broadcasts and Blu-ray content — or even web videos! — to 4K resolution. It supports 3D, so with the supplied polarized glasses, you can enjoy huge high-res 3D footage. PlayMemories Studio software, previously available for the PlatStation3 platform, will get a 4K-enabled version in March 2013 to enable users to view images from their digicam on their 4K TV.

We've always been bothered by the sound quality in HDTVs, but Sony plans to solve this by including a three-way 10-speaker system with a total output of 50W for powerful sound. Making use of Sony's Clear Phase technology, this TV reproduces natural sound — and via S-Force Front Surround 3D, the front speakers create virtual 5.1-channel surround sound.

A button on the remote provides access to the Sony Entertainment Network Portal, which has been recently developed for internet-equipped BRAVIA televisions.

This monster of a TV is likely to be available at end of year. As you've guessed, the price remains a mystery.
