The Fraunhofer institute, creators of mp3, have made an interesting application of augmented reality displays.
The Fraunhofer institute, creators of mp3, have made an interesting application of augmented reality displays. The mirror transforms how any piece of fabric appears in it.
So you hold up a green shirt with a logo in the centre and it transforms just the image of the shirt while reflecting everything else the way it is. The logo is used as a placeholder for the algorithm to recognize what to replace.
Though augmented reality devices have been around for quite a while, a lot of them have concentrated on personal applications such as glasses that change the world you see through them. The tech isn t quite portable yet but department stores and other such places could really use technology like this.
