Zalman is known worldwide for providing cooling solutions for Processors, VGA cards, hard disk drives and other chipsets. Their prime strength was mainly centred around CPU cooling solutions for AMD as well as Intel processors, until some time back when they pulled a rabbit out of the hat by offering the ZM-RS6F Theatre 6, the first real surround headphones.
When it comes to headphones, the normal stereo headphones have come a long way from being the simple 2-channel headphones to surround sound and the wireless ones, some even vibrate! The Dolby surround headphones basically simulate a 5.1 effect and aren't the real thing. The Zalman ZM-RS6F Theatre 6 is a "True" 5.1 headphone that is equipped with multiple drivers for a real 6-channel (5.1) effect. The product has been around in the international market for some time now and finally it's about to hit the Indian market, we were delighted to review it.
The 5.1 headphones can be used for computers equipped with a 5.1 soundcard, multi-channel home audio and video systems and DVD-based gaming consoles like the PS2 and Xbox. Yes. current Zalman headset have microphones. But they are little different in look from picture and little lesser comfortable on ear.

sad headphones, rear channels are toooo weak, lack of sharpness. Never meant for music like rock. Probably nice for classical like norah jones..kinda made a mistake.. should have gone for the BOSE TriPort Stereo Headphones although 5k more than the zalman. I would have enjoyed my music :(.....

You should be very happy that you did not buy that piece of shit Bose Tripor. Should have gone for a RS3000 Grado SR60 or even a RS1500 Sennheser HD497. The Bose Triport is comparable in performance to the HD497 while the SR60 just stomps all over it.... IMO. Reference: www.head-fi.org :-)

I've bought these Zalman headphones (ZMRS6F). It has 3 plugs (F, R, C) Wondering how i'd connect it to systems (walkman,tv,pc etc) where there is a single stereo output socket. Is connecting just the 'Center' plug (and leaving the others hanging) the right thing to do? Or do you get h/w connectors to convert stereo output to 5.1 output?

It will not perform to it's full capacity on a 2(stero) or 2.1 system( like your walkman Tv,etc). You can connect them, but it will not make any diffrence WRT a regular head phones. For these phones to work effectivly, A 5.1 card is required. for superior perfomance, even the sound source needs to be 5.1 sensitized. A TV/ walkman are stero or just give an effect of stero. connecting them to a home therter/5.1 system will virtually recreate sound to sound like 5.1. And considering the lack (as yet) of true 5.1 sound (outside of gaming)... the option of using a 5.1 card (on your PC) or a 5.1 system is your best option. cheers Abhi

these are shitty headphones. u are better of with a pricy sennheiser or a grado. i just tried ut 2004 . not much effect. i am lisening to some winamp 128kbps music and no good there either.

First off this will not give u nice positional audio. I felt the rear were ok on UT 2004 but the front were totally useless. The base response is poor in this. Its dynamic range is50-20k so the bass will be affected. I dont think its worth the money. aaaaaaaah even as I write the thing is echoing in my ears. I can actually hear a faint echo.......maybe its just my ears :)

Am I glad that i picked these up .. listenin to em rite now wid da vol cranked up which is exceptionally easy on these cause these babies are LOUD!!! trust me these will give da feelin of being surrounded by a room full of spkrs jus like they were inteded to.... can actually make u go on a HIGh jus listenin to ur fav muzik ... had i reviewed dem ... 5stars .. nough said ...
