At Higher Levels
At higher levels, the game is harder, but much more fun. You get to explore more areas by walking, flying, or sailing. You need to go to distant lands during the course of the game, and that is made easier by the ability to fly using Gryphons or Wind-Riders.
Flying around to a distant land can at times take as much as ten minutes, other RPG veterans would know that traveling in an RPG never takes more than a few seconds. But in WoW, the experience is made a little realistic by making you spend some time on your travels. You can also travel by ship; again you wait for the entire journey and also wait for the ship to dock. The ships arrive as per a schedule and follow a timetable. You can always see people fishing by the bay as they wait for the trip. Fishing is a common profession in WoW that most people acquire. There are other professions like skinning, cooking, mining and so on.
I am a skinner and a leather worker, so I make money out of making leather items and selling them on the auction house. You see, the whole experience is so real - you go hunting, kill a few animals, skin them, make leather items, and go sell them in the market. There is lot of hard work that goes into making a strong character; you have to level up, make good friends, and join a guild.
WoW has given me loads of online friends, people from all parts of the world. This is one aspect that makes WoW a great game; various people interact and get to know each other. My friends list includes a construction worker from France, a female bank employee from England, and there are a few guys from India as well. WoW is gaining more popularity, and is rapidly growing even to the remote parts of the world. There are many guys who play WoW (never heard of a girl play it here) in India, this was a shocker to me as I thought I was amongst the very few. So it turns out that there are many more, which is awesome! Before I get into that detail, there is one more thing I would like to share.
My character is 39, this is my primary one and I have two other level 25 characters. Therefore, as soon as I reach level 40, I will be able to buy myself a mount, an animal that will be my mode of travel. These mounts are faster and also make a great statement. I will be covering my character and a few more details about Raids and PVPs (both part of an MMORPG experience) in my next article for the same game.

There have been many questions about how to play the game or where to get it from. Well to start off download the 10-day free trial from the website www.worldofwarcraft.com. thereafter you'll need to download all the patches, that does take some time as over the last 3 years(almost) about 2GB of updates exist. If you feel like buying the game, ebay.in or www.playasia.com is the best place to get it. I recommend buying the expansion also, though it costs more than the actual game, but your wow experience will be very limited without Burning Crusade, as one whole World(OUTLAND) and 2 races are unavailable to you.
My character is a lvl 67 Hunter on the Shu'Halo realm.
I would love to interact ingame with some indians.. I have a level 64 Tauren Shaman on darkspear and a few more characters. If anyone wants to know more about the game or would like any help let me know. This is an amazing game..a bit addictive..but great fun.
I would not term this game has "Bit Addictive". Rather I would say it is "Very Very Very Addictive". So please be forewarned. I would not advise students in school or college to play this game as this game will eat away all your free time and might even affect your grades if you ignore your studies.
Well written - I sure would like to thank Vilsor from Hyderabad for the additional info on the system and the bandwidth.
Even though we supply software to the world, our leaders just don't care about the infrastructure - getting a telephone connection from MTNL is a pain in neck, let alone a broadband connection, even in cities like Mumbai.
Besides, Rs.620 isn't all that cheap for US Servers - I wish someone could post Indian game servers, making it easily affordable.
Kudos to all.

Unfortunately there are no servers currently hosted in India. Another MMORPG game that is out there is "Guild Wars". You can play this game for free once you buy it. It is an ok game but does not compare with World of Warcraft.
Navneet, this is real nice effort. I want to know more about this games. Also please mention about the financial aspect of this game and minimum system requirement including the internet connectivity.
You can buy WoW in most game stores in India or at Ebay India. On Ebay India it is selling for Rs.1200/-. While buying the game you will have to choose US or UK version. I play on the US servers because that is the version of the game I have.
You will need a monthly subscription to play the game. The subscription is $15 every month. It turns out to be aroud Rs.620 currently. You can use a credit card for Wow Subscriptions.
I would recommend a system with a decent graphics card and adequate memory. I can play on my laptop which has 512MB RAM, but I lag when I enter big cities or crowded areas. I would recommend atleast 1GB RAM to play this game. You will also need a decent graphics card. I suggest atleast Nvidia GeForce 7600GT 256MB.
In the game you have a feature which shows your response time from server and also fps. With my 512Kbps DSL connection, my response time is in yellow (average) or red(bad). But even with this connection, I can play smoothly unless my internet connection becomes very bad. As long as your response time is less than 1000ms you can play smoothly. If it is above 1200ms you notice a little log. My connection is usually 600 to 900ms.
so i played the trial on a 128kbit line and it was quite smooth..i wasnt able to take part in any raids so i dont know how a 128kbit would fair in 10+man group....so there u have it if u plan to solo or play in small groups a 128kbit line should be sufficient. I'm sure a 40 man raid group would equire atleast a 256kbit line :) .
Hi Navneet,
Nice article about World Of Warcraft. This is such a wonderful game but it is sad that many people are unaware of it in India.
I have a level 60 Warlock and my brother-in-law has a level 60 Hunter. We share the account. I was wondering where we can meet other WoW players from India.
