Software
WD Sync: This is a synchronization and encryption software that allows you to synchronize your data between different computers. You can synchronize emails and contacts in Outlook or Outlook Express, Internet bookmarks, and other files, according to your choice. Whenever you plug this drive into a PC or laptop with this software installed, the contents will automatically be synchronized. It supports 128-bit encryption to protect your data on the My Passport.
WD Anywhere Backup: This simple-to-use and useful backup and recovery application is also provided with this drive. You can automatically back up your files to multiple destinations and synchronize your files, keeping the latest versions.
MioNet: Using this bundled software, you can access your home music, photos, and videos from anywhere. All you need to do is install this software on all the computers you wish to access and using the application installed on the drive, you can use your laptop to access these files remotely. When we launched the program installer, it automatically downloaded the updated version and asked us if we wished to install it to the USB drive or on the computer. After choosing any one of these options, it again downloads some updates (this may take some time, depending on your Internet speed). You're then prompted to create a MioNet account and if you happen to have one, you can simply add this computer to it. Restart and your computer is now online and accessible from any Internet connection from anywhere. What you get is the MioNet Key for free for the life of the drive, while the MioNet Premium is available as a 30-day trial. The MioNet Key allows for remote file access from My Passport, while the MioNet Premium sports advanced features such as remote computer control, share computer folders, online meetings, webcam access and sharing, and remote file access (without My Passport).
There is also a WD Drive Manager Status that remains quietly in the system tray, providing you information about the drive temperature and the capacity in use.

I picked up a WD passport 250gb for 4.3k a month back from lamington. its been a good performer also have gentoo booting from it and haven't had any issue yet

fifteen days back I got 250Gb for 5250/- after checking with ten stores, is that pricey?

fifteen days back I got Passport Essential (only black color was available) 250Gb for 5250/- after checking with fourteen stores. Are there other models of WD in small portable 250Gb capacity? Did i pay a high price?

I don't think it looks that great. The finish is simply silver. The LEDs are a nuisance if you ask me. The performance seems average. I don't care about a software CD (saving the environment by not providing a useless CD is more important) But I'd wait for something cheaper.
