The WD6400AAKS brings with it a huge capacity and tremendous performance.
Fast, Silent, Perpendicular recording technology, Huge capacity, Inexpensive.
Heats up a bit.
Western Digital has been around on Techtree.com for their wide range of products. From their very inexpensive internal hard drives to the external hard drives and very recently the VelociRaptor, all of it has been reviewed here.
Now, they have upped the capacity of their mainstream and affordable internal hard drive to 640GB. Known as the Caviar Blue WD6400AAKS, this drive consists of two 320GB platters spinning at 7,200 RPM and a 16MB cache.
Our past experience with WD drives has been very satisfactory and we are therefore very upbeat about this drive as well. Playing around with it a bit, the preliminary tests reveal that the access time of this drive rivals with that of the very expensive VelociRaptor.
Though the speeds do not go anywhere near, they are still very good. This drive currently boasts a very enticing price per GB, bringing it near the sweet spot and we will be surprised if this drive does not become a buyer's pick soon.

Your Review is DAM Buggy, Jayesh I bet you were totally Drunk when you did this review.. look at whats written on Page 5 - "The Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKS boasts of a massive 640 GB capacity" - the heading says WD6400AAKS!!! IN page 4 - Under the File copy test section it reads " for testing the read and write speeds of the Barracuda." BARRACUDA Yeah right so we are testing Seagate drive hah??? You call yourself professional?? tsk.. tsk..
