Viewsonic VA1926w LCD

Viewsonic VA1926w LCD

The VA1926w is a Value series member that promises good performance at an affordable price. Check it out

Build, Supports both DVI-D and D-Sub (VGA) input ports, Good picture quality, Contrast and color reproduction.

No bundled DVI-D cable, Mismatch in HCR test.

Performance

We used DisplayMate to conduct a variety of tests on this monitor, ranging from Geometric Pattern tests to the Color Reproduction test (and everything in between).

The Viewsonic VA1926w breezed through the screen geometry and distortion, sharpness and resolution, and screen pixel resolution test quite easily.

It delivers sharp pictures and great color reproduction without any bleeding or streaking of colors. The brightness and contrast levels were pretty good as well. But, as with almost all monitors, the VA1926w too shows a minute amount of mismatch with the red and green bands in the Horizontal Color Registration test.

As far as the OSD buttons are concerned, they're easy to use and let you fine tune certain aspects of the display to the best of your liking. Though, I'm sure the Auto Image Adjust feature will take care of anything an average user can think of.

We watched a few movies and played a multitude of games ranging from Counter Strike to Crysis using the VA1926w. Its 5ms response time ensures that there's no ghosting in games or in movies. Although it isn't as good as the VX, VP, or VG series from Viewsonic; it's great for the average consumer.

Conclusion

The Viewsonic VA1926w is available for Rs. 9,500 with a 3-year warranty. For this price, it's a really good deal, but if you want something that gives a higher resolution and a faster response time along with a bundled DVI-D cable, spend 1500 bucks more and get yourself the VX1940w.

Can anybody using a 17" LCD please check and tell whether the aspect ratio is proper at 1024x768 resolution. A Samsung 740N that we recently bought is displaying square figures as rectangles & circles as ellipticals. Text is very bad at top & bottom edges. There is no v-size & h-size adjustments available. Local Samsung guys are telling us to use the 1200x1024 resolution, (which works fine) but since we do webpage designs we need to stick to the current standard resolution size that the world is using. At higher res the pages look very much wierd. Can anybody help please?

You have no option, but to sell off the monitor and either go for a 15" LCD or a CRT monitor. It is a common problem that an LCD monitor screens go bad whenever one strays from the standard resolution.

Uh... use a smaller window for designing your web pages?

by Alok, Noida, on Feb 01, 2008 11:22 AM, Report abuse

Samsung must have told you to use 1280 x 1024 (not 1200 x 1024). The native resolution of almost every entry level 17" LCD is 1280 x 1024... Therefore the aspect ratio is 1.25 or 5/4. The most common aspect ratio is 1.33 or 4/3 which you can get from resolutions like 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 960. I'd second Brendon that you'd have to go for a 15" LCD or a 17" CRT Monitor if you want 1024 x 768 resolution.

all the Comments below are true... to get best display out of LCD is to RUN on the native resolution 1280x1024... thats the way LCDs work...

The Problem with view sonic lcds is they lack of button for different auto bright adjustment on the basis of ur work. They have to be adjusted manually..... thts the biggest problem otherwise they are quite good and durable!
