Can anybody using a 17" LCD please check and tell whether the aspect ratio is proper at 1024x768 resolution. A Samsung 740N that we recently bought is displaying square figures as rectangles & circles as ellipticals. Text is very bad at top & bottom edges. There is no v-size & h-size adjustments available. Local Samsung guys are telling us to use the 1200x1024 resolution, (which works fine) but since we do webpage designs we need to stick to the current standard resolution size that the world is using. At higher res the pages look very much wierd. Can anybody help please?

Gilbert | Mumbai | 01/02/08 09:26 AM | Report abuse Reply

You have no option, but to sell off the monitor and either go for a 15" LCD or a CRT monitor. It is a common problem that an LCD monitor screens go bad whenever one strays from the standard resolution.

Brendon | Mumbai | 01/02/08 11:07 AM | Report abuse

Uh... use a smaller window for designing your web pages?

Alok | Noida | 01/02/08 11:22 AM | Report abuse

Samsung must have told you to use 1280 x 1024 (not 1200 x 1024). The native resolution of almost every entry level 17" LCD is 1280 x 1024... Therefore the aspect ratio is 1.25 or 5/4. The most common aspect ratio is 1.33 or 4/3 which you can get from resolutions like 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 960. I'd second Brendon that you'd have to go for a 15" LCD or a 17" CRT Monitor if you want 1024 x 768 resolution.

Raunak | Indore | 01/02/08 12:11 PM | Report abuse

all the Comments below are true... to get best display out of LCD is to RUN on the native resolution 1280x1024... thats the way LCDs work...

Qdalz | Mumbai | 01/02/08 05:12 PM | Report abuse

The Problem with view sonic lcds is they lack of button for different auto bright adjustment on the basis of ur work. They have to be adjusted manually..... thts the biggest problem otherwise they are quite good and durable!
