17-inch widescreen monitors. Yeah, at first, I too laughed at that. But it seems that they're here to stay. I'm not that big a fan of 17-inch widescreeners (plainly for the aesthetics), but I like the fact that they offer the same resolution as 19-inch widescreen monitors.
Today, we've reviewed VA1703wb, a 17-inch widescreen monitor from Viewsonic. So let's check it out.

vijayshimla, I am sorry to say but you are wrong! Many Pro Gamers still use CRT TV's. CRT is still the best option if you want the best possible Image Quality at a reasonable price and not spend a fortune on a high-end LCD. Regards

Actually, you're the one who's wrong. How many "Pro gamers" do you know? Pro gamers use large screens. Have you ever used a large (21" +) CRT? They have fuzzy, unclear text that causes eye strain, take up HUGE amounts of desk space, consume large amounts of power, give off lots of heat and even electro-magnetic radiation. A large LCD by contrast takes up much less desk space, has brilliant sharp text, consumes much less power, gives off no EMR, does not warm your room, and the high-end ones even come with built-in card readers and USB ports. They are also a lot more portable than CRTs that are MUCH smaller.

That used to be the case a long time ago, due to the lag which was very prevalent on the LCD screens. But since then technology has improved and the gaming scene has changed, but still people prefer 19 inchers to 17's...

Why don't we look at it from another point of view. CRT's are cheaper than LCDs. No doubt about that. Now, when a gamer's assembling a rig, he'd like to shave off as much money on peripherals like the monitor, to spend on other important parts, like the CPU, memory, and most importantly, the GFX (read as graphics) card. That's why even I went for a CRT, so that I could get a good GFX card. I had to assemble from scratch, as in, no other PC to take monitor, mouse or keyboard from. Heck, I even had to buy a UPS!
