There are a lot of great games coming up in 2008 -- biggies like MGS4, Killzone 2, Halo Wars, Ninja Gaiden 2, and many more. These games have been talked about for months now, therefore the expectations from them are really high. I'll be listing all these games in the future; but I wanted to dedicate a feature to some select innovative games being launched next year that I'm sure you'll enjoy playing. So read on to know more about them.

Echocrome (PSN/PSP)

Plain and simple, Echocrome is a PSN game that'll also be available for the PSP. The game is in black and white, and all that one has to do is guide your playable mannequin through a series of puzzles. If you see the screenshot below, you might find the game to appear as boring, but it's a very intelligent game.

The screenshot illustrates that the set-piece has many blank spaces in it. Your mannequin will drop down from those spaces, but you can help him. All that you've to do is rotate the camera so that one of the "pillars" fills up the space and the mannequin will walk through safely. It's a little hard to explain, you can find videos on various websites explaining the same. The game's puzzles will give Portal a run for its money, and the game will surely keep the intelligent gamer busy next year.

Spore(PC)

Will Wright's Spore has been in the news for several months. This very ambitious project should be out next year. The game focuses upon life and evolution; you start off as a single cell organism and continue to evolve. You'll control more than one life form; in fact, you'll govern an entire species, an entire world. This game lets you create and share life forms and various creatures online, give them different characteristics, etc. The game is really looking good and will surely keep gamers busy. We're all aware of Will's work, so you can expect a cult classic.
