The game can be quite difficult with the level design posing inevitable challenges.

Challenging gameplay, Good visuals and presentation, Good level design, Old-school platforming gameplay with new-age visuals.

The jump mechanic doesn't work as well as it should, The inability to shoot diagonally.

I have always been a big fan of the PSP system, I think a more hardcore gamer needs more than casual games on the go. Don't get me wrong, I love playing Mario on my DS but there are times when nothing feels better than Kratos cutting through Persians while you travel from Andheri to Churchgate.

Recently Capcom released a bunch of great titles for the PSP and I got my hands on a few of them. Today I will be reviewing Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins, a game that sounds like a spin-off of LOTR but is actually based on King Arthur. The plot is simple; you have to rescue the "D.I.D" or Damsel in Distress while fighting ghosts and goblins. The game play may sound very simple and casual but believe me the game can get on your nerves, as it can be a tad difficult at times. Read on to know more about the game play and hazards of confronting ghosts and goblins head-on.

Summary

The game is a side scroller with 2D and 3D elements mashed up together to present a really good-looking game. There is a small video initially that shows your princess being taken away. The princess is the last remaining heir to the royal bloodline and the dark forces of Demon Realm wish to use her blood to become invincible. Arthur has been protecting the bloodline and now it s his duty to save the princess. The game has three modes of difficulty, let me elaborate:

Novice Mode: I would recommend you start off with this mode, its easy and offers reasonable difficulty. You start with more lives and take less damage from enemies. Even after you die, you spawn right where you were. The best part is that you don't lose your weapon upgrade (more on this later) after dying.

Standard Mode: You get lesser lives than novice mode.

Ultimate Mode: I like to call this irritating-enough-to-make-you-break-something mode. Ultimate difficulty, you take loads of damage from the simplest of attacks, lose armor with the first hit and start at the beginning of the stage.

The basic game play involves physical ranged attacks, magic, defending and a lot of jumping. It s basically a 2D platformer with loads of enemies thrown in. The enemies spawn from almost anywhere, including the 2D background. They attack in large numbers and from different directions. I hate the fact that you can't attack diagonally; it sucks and makes hitting a few enemies really difficult.

There are times that you wish Arthur could borrow Kratos's Blades of Chaos to finish off his enemies. There are many weapons of choice. You get new weapons by simply opening pots and treasure chests. Mostly all weapons are ranged; you can also pick up a vine whip or a fire bottle, which are very effective against enemies. As mentioned earlier, the enemy attack from everywhere, so you have to be alert as damage taken can destroy your armor.

This game is Great!.... Almost 18 months ago when it came out. (if not more) Since it's a long running series, you either love it or hate it.

one look at the gameplay movie shows its silly and has not good presentation. You need to check out Ninetendo DS if you are looking for some arcade games. Sonic rocks on DS!
