Tony Hawk is a name that is synonymous with skating; he is world-famous for his skills and his video games. Tony Hawk's skating series has scored high on all gaming platforms and finally they have come up with a decent game on the mobile platform. The game is called Tony hawk's Proving Ground and is a good game for good reason. Read on to know what makes Proving Ground a good game to have on your mobile.

The first and most important reason is that the game is 2D, which I believe is a good perspective for mobile gaming. Developers tend to make really bad-looking 3D games for mobiles, although 3D games are more interactive and engrossing. I believe that the developers can do a much better job with 2D. The basic idea of the game is to score points, unlock venues, skates and so on.
This is similar to most Tony Hawk games, so veterans will be able to grasp the idea quickly and get going. To play the game you have to perform a quick-time sequence; proper execution of the quick time sequences will result in perfect trick. The better the tricks the more you score and that much more you unlock.

Let me explain a quick-time sequence to you. While playing the game you will see various key combinations on the screen, your objective is to match the combination by pressing the associated keys on the mobile keypad. In more simple terms, the on-screen instructions will read up, down, right, right, left, if you are able to match the combination by pressing the right buttons (2= up, 8= down and so on) or moving the joystick, you get a good score.
There are various venues in the game including school, warehouse, street and airport. You begin at the warehouse and you need to unlock the rest by scoring points and clearing objectives. However, the venue design could have been better, as it is hard to distinguish one from the other. Every venue has a few hidden items that one has to find, this is not easy in the beginning, but once you get used to the controls, you will clear all objectives with ease. You earn stat points that can be used to upgrade your character; you can add points to various stats like speed, hangtime, rail and manual. You can also buy new tricks, but they cost some serious moolah.
The game has a multiplayer mode, but you have to play on the same mobile. It's a very simple game, one player starts by performing tricks and scoring high points, while the other has to match and beat the first player. The mode is called "Horse", which is basically an insult to the losing player. You can type in any insult, so go wild on that one.
I recommend this game to any skating fan. It's simple, easy and has enough content to last you a few hours, Also, playing "Horse" while traveling is fun.
