From the day the rumor mills started churning Apple having an iPod phone till this very moment, everyone -- in the tech world initially and then the rest of the world -- has been raving about the iPhone. People who have the dough just want to own one -- and those who don't, wish they could.
Will people stop calling mobile phones mobile phones -- calling them iPhones instead? (Just like they started calling every MP3 player an iPod.) But why do I bother you about such metaphysical questions? Instead, let me tell you what I felt about "THE" phone over the couple of days that I got to use it. But before that:-
The Talk
Presently, the iPhone is available in just 10% of the world. The other part (90% of the world) -- comprising the have-nots -- is equally hooked: the iPhone is all over the net, on every channel, on everyone s mind. It looks like the marketing is as much for the grey sales of the phone as for those specific countries where it sells legally.

THIS MSG FOR ALL WHO CRITICIZE IPHONE. The loopholes that iphone has will disappear for sure by future updates of the fimware. Issues of bluetooth, sms forwards, quickoffice compatibility, etc. all these faults will be vanished after the future updates of firmware. Iphone will be a complete phone by the end of this year. I am sure for that. Than it will not be only ENTERTAINMENT phone but a BUSINESS phone too :). And one good news for Indians : Iphone is launching in India by March 3, 2008. This is a 100 % confirm news. I spoke to Apple authorized distributors. I am also 100% sure about the IPHONE pricing for Mumbai : It will be between Rs. 29000 - Rs. 31000 for 16GB. Yes its expensive. So the best route for purchase is Apple store, USA. I hope my information was useful to you guys. I just ADORE IPHONE. What an interface of home screen, messaging, safari, email, camera clarity, above all IPOD , awesome third party softwares, dial (mute, speakers, hold, merg, etc.). Apple iphone is good and a unique experience but with many drawbacks, such as: 1) Messages cannot be forwarded and are grouped according to sender 2) Bluetooth is only for Headphone and there is no way of connectivity other than a cable connectivity with PC or other Phones 3) Calls cannot be picked directly till u slide the key. Not even on Headphone. This means if u are driving, its difficult to pick up a call 4) U cannot set any other ringtones, other than itunes set by apple. nor u can download ringtones from Apple site, if ur phone is unlocked, as this becomes illegal 5) U cannot upgrade ur phone through Apple website (if it is a unlocked/unbilled phone) as apple may lock it again if u connect to there website 6) Settings wizard is very confusing 7) Sound quality very very poor 8) Difficult to get accesories in India 9) Very Expensive phone with huge price difference (US price Approx. INR 13000/- while it is sold at INR 25000/- in India) and very less resale value 10) Time to get licensed unlock phone. Apple plans to lauch the same on 24th March 2008 in India

Iphone is a gr8 product in cell phone market.. thats it.. PERIOD... it doesnt even come close to be called as a smartphone. As always with Apple, its just marketing HYPE. It has a very cool and a very thoughtful UI design. Someone who likes a sexy looking and colorful phone, then iphone is the way to go. But for someone who cares function over looks, then N95 is the way to go. Nokia knows the business and they know how to make a real smartphone. As a simple scenario, how many of you can dail a number on an iphone without looking at it while driving?? Apple makes very good UI products, but not fully functional products. BTW, I have used both N95 (series 1) and iPhone, now I am looking forward to buy N95-8GB version. WTG NOKIA....

Dream on about it 'ruling the arena'. This is a phone designed for VERY RICH non-smartphone users-those who stuck to basic voice/SMS because they found existing phones too complicated. Very Rich considering it's priced similar to an N95 while lacking the most basic features that we take for granted on even low end phones (no copy pasting text, no MMS, no fwding SMS, no video, NO SETTING A MUSIC FILE AS A RINGTONE!!!! WTF??) Fans of Nokia/SE would rather wait for them to release Symbian devices with touchscreens. Also don't forget the locked in business model Apple uses. In India we're used to buying unlocked handsets where we can switch operators and plans easily. Anyway..if you're a rich kid with more money than sense, who's stopping you from getting one.

I think you should use the device once. More features does not mean a better phone. Even i was apprehensive when i read about the phone, but after using it once, its just a great experience. Everything works just as they say and the photo, video and youtube viewer are very interactive.
