Spore Creature Creator: A sneak peek

This is a game about evolution and you are the creator of the ecosystem. Read on to know more.
The Creation Tool
The creature creator is an essential part of the whole Spore experience, it lets you create your own creatures to the last detail. You choose the body structure, skin texture and tone and the way the creature moves. You start off by choosing a basic spine structure, which further determines whether the creature is a biped or a quadruped. You can also choose the body mass by simply using the scroll wheel. Once you get the basic structure in place, you start by choosing all its body parts - limbs, head, mouth, eyes and so on.
The opportunities are limitless; you can go wild and create whatever you like. You can create a raptor with an elephants tusk or an ostrich with a venom spitting nose, it all depends on how messed up you are in your head. You choose if the creature is an herbivore or a carnivore, which is done by choosing the appropriate mouth. You can elongate or reduce the size of the head, mouth, limbs etc.
This leads to total freedom and makes it easy to create a perfect food pyramid for the ecosystem. Let me elaborate on this. You will be creating many creatures and by choosing their food habits you create a perfect food chain. The idea is total freedom and Spore delivers front.
The creator also keeps check on the number of parts used to create the creature and then indicates its complexity on the right hand corner of your HUD. There is no limit to the number of parts you use to create, but the tool just wants you to know what you are getting into. There are various other indicators on the HUD, which lists down other abilities that the creature posses.
Its diet depends on the mouth you put on it, while its speed depends on the feet and limbs you give it and its attacking abilities depends on the weapons you give it. You can give it various weapons for defense like a spiky tail or horns on its head. It's always good to have fun with the creator, that's the reason for those ugly creatures in the screenshots. Once the body is done, you can give it color. You can choose your own color scheme or use any of the defaults.
You can test your creature, see it in motion, perform tricks and make it do many other interesting actions. You can also see your creature in the infant stage, which can be done by clicking the egg icon on the screen. There are many options to share the creature with others, you can take in-game screenshots, record a video and upload it directly on to youtube.
The creature can also be shared with the worldwide community by uploading it on Sporepedia. You can also see various creatures created by other gamers. The creature creator is a small preview of an upcoming game, but is currently more popular than most games available in the market. You can download a demo of the game or wait for the full title that will be out in September. Well thats the business world man. Having played the game I must say it is fun, but there is so much more they can do with this. Limitless infact not to mention the sheer power of the engine they have created.
