Think Small Form Factor (SFF) and the next to come to your mind is Shuttle. Even though other manufacturers are trying to get popular with their own SFF designs, Shuttle is still the dominant player. Their ability to implement new technology is the key factor that's driving their success.

We have already done a review on a Shuttle-based system, the Shuttle SB61G2. The last two characters, i.e., G2 are used to specify the design generation. While that was the second-generation system, the one on the table today, i.e. the Shuttle SN95G5 is the fifth generation design. It has incorporated some major design changes; the most notable is the sleek black look, which is way ahead of the second-generation design.

The Shuttle SN95G5 is based on an Nvidia nForce 3 250 chipset and supports Socket 939 Athlon 64 Bit CPUs from AMD. In terms of basic features, it supports a single optical drive, two hard disks and lots of features, which we will discuss later on.

If you have been a follower of the Shuttle SFF systems, then you are bound to notice the change in the bay doors. The front panel has three bay doors, which covers the optical drive, the floppy drive and IO ports panel. All these have been nicely concealed giving the Shuttle SN95G5 a sexier look than the previous models.

Now, let's have a quick look at the specifications of the Shuttle SN95G5.

Why doesn't Shuttle put in an LCD display, AM FM radio etc like the MSI Mega PC. Shuttle anyday has a better config than the MSI. But I would want my HTPC to have a cool LCD display too.

This is TT bullshit.... I mean how can you get S-Video port if you dont have onboard Video.... CON should be lack of integrated video and not "no S-Video port"...any ways r there Xtream-overclockers who are intrested in getting some cool Samsung TCCD (G.SKILL-DDR550 easily @ 2.5-4-4-8, 512 DC KIT) action... please reply and yeah its gonna take some time n money. Check "anandtech.com" review.

D00d, the nforce 3 250 doesn't have any integrated graphics model. Anyways, integrated graphics are good for office apps. not a gaming machine like this one

D00D???? I dont think u got my point....but then I do know one thing - all r not as good as u want them to be. I also know that Integrated graphics r good with office or @ some point home (read "Value" based on nForce2 IGP/ATI RS480), but not in a Power Machine like this.

I would like you to elaborate on Instant On features especially DVD and TV. You mentioned 6 Audio ports at the rear but for Home entertainment it is important to have Dolby and other surround sound certification. Can we use this system as stand alone DVD player without powering it on ( Windows)? Similiarly can we use it as standalone TV box ?

For the use which you r suggesting... i think you'll be happy with VIA KM400 based Shuttle...if u want something more powerfull go for 865G based....as this machine is way too good for just Standalone DVD-PLaya...or TV BOX or MP3 Server.... this is for power users and gamers if u ask me. If you have money n want to spend it, go ahead but there are other models which suit your requirements.

why has techtree stopped writing game reviews completely? The last review was some time in late february and wasn't of a new game , they were reviewing some series 40 games.

NO matter what the cost, I'm just happy that shuttle PCs and barebones have started surfacing in India. It is the best Small form factor PC that you can get. Not only is it small but it also packs the punch these babies also turn out to be one of the best gaming systems because of their innovative cooling and their powerful SMSPS (PSU). To see some of the modifications done using this PC and reading independent reviews go to www.zapwizard.com

That's just for the box and the board. Everything else is a not so optional extra. Go figure!

This is a pretty decisive review. I have this amzing lil SFF running a AMD64 3200+. It runs rock solid and has almost all the features anyone would want. The only thing I'm missing is the wireless LAN card, pls do let meknow if anyone knows where I can buy shuttle accessories in Bangalore or anywhere else in India. Thank you.
