External display, Attractive screen, Good keypad layout.
Bad camera placement, Gloss finish.
Who doesn't know that there is no second chance to make a first impression??? But, hold it guys; it doesn't hold a candle for technology; for the simple fact that it goes and goes and goes on improving and evolving. Samsung surely leads the wagon in this realm. It commendably caters to the users' taste. They have jumped the bandwagon of decking up their existing products with a makeover to pamper their consumers. The Samsung X660 is one more handset from the stable with a slight improvement over Samsung's X640.
First Impressions
The Samsung X660 follows the footprints of its predecessor being a clamshell. It is equipped with an external mono-screen (96 x 96 pixels). It flaunts black, glossy-finish slapped with a silver border matt-finish that makes for quite a fashion statement and an elegant look. The glossy-finish has a hitch to it though; your fingerprints seemed to get embossed on the surface. So, you'll always feel like a fussy one eternally striving to wipe off the fingerprints before pocketing it. The left face has a headset socket neatly covered by a plastic cover that is attached to the body. The volume-control is smartly placed below the headset socket. There is an IrDA port and a camera-activation button on the right face of the phone. The camera-placement is identical to that of the previous model X640 with a slight dip to preserve the lens from being scratched.
On opening the clamshell you will notice the 65K color TFT (128 x 160 pixels) screen that displays 8 lines. This screen is bright and has a better contrast over the X640 screen. The keypad layout is neatly spaced out with the same large 4 way D-pad. The center key of the D-pad works as a selection button and as a WAP hotkey. A white backlighting is spread equally throughout the keypad that is satisfactory even if you thumb the contacts in insufficient lights. The keypad doesn't cause accidental key presses even for people with large fingers.

so bad, i used only 1-1/2 year then cannot save contacts to phone book, infra not functioning, then according to service center its a mother board problem, not good!!!!!

I AM HAVING PROBS WITH THE COVER LCD DISPLAY... THE CAMERA IS NOT CLEAR ON THE FRONT AND THE CLOCK DISAPEARS WHEN FULLY OPENED?? HAS ANYONE HAD ANY PROBS LIKE THIS ?

Sir/ Madam I have to draw your kind attention that my mobile phone which was purchased from Mohan Music, Fancy Bazar on 22/06/2005 was detected to be defective particularly with power backup problem (I can hardly talk for 45 minutes after giving full charge, actually it does not take full charge even after being kept in charge for hours.) and other software problems (very often it gets hanged in course of execution, echoing sound, gets switch off itself, the screen displays INSERT SIM in course of conversation, and can not be used subsequently) as well immediately afterwards. The debit side of this phone in today?s context is huge 1.No BLUETOOTH 2. No Card slot for memory expansion 3.No music Play capability * Music mixer). Camera Quality is Major issue the camera's quality is average; good picture can be taken ONLY In good illumination, otherwise it is difficult to determine what the photo represents. Despite IrDA being present, pictures cannot be transferred to the personal computer, viewing is limited only by the phone's screen. 4. But SE310 with all the features of this phone and internal memory of 14MB, MP3 ringtones and playback, Video camera 640x480 pixs and USB + IrDA port, mettalic finish and superb sound quality is a steal for a full 1000Rs. less. Samsung phones are too expensive compared to their features and all
