Today, we have with us a simple entry level phone from Samsung. The C140, at least, the numbering suggests that it is better than the C130; but then its Samsung and the numbering used by companies is mostly all haywire. Leave the numbering aside as there isn't much we can argue about that and proceed with the write up.

The Samsung C140, being an entry level phone, has a very basic design. Nothing flashy about it, it's just a bar type phone. The dimensions of the phone stand at 104.2 x 44.2 x 16.2 mm, making it smaller and lighter than the C130. The phone just weighs 69 grams. It has a very plastic build; it may not appeal to all, but it does look a bit elegant. The face of the phone is divided into two parts, the screen and the keypad. The area around the screen has a very glossy finish and the keypad has a rubber type finish. The screen of the phone is a 1.5-inch CSTN 65K color display with a 128 x 128 pixels resolution. The keypad is quite small and makes typing out an SMS pretty troublesome. It requires you to use your nails at times to press a few of the buttons, mostly the '*' and '#' buttons. You will realize whenever you try to lock or unlock the keypad.

The back of the phone has a matt finish plastic and there is a glossy plastic ring running around the phone. The left of the phone has a headset port with a plastic dust cover. The bottom of the phone has the charging port. The headset is a standard 3.5mm port. The build quality of the phone wasn't the best considering that these low budget phones are for ruff-n-tuff use. Only the phone looked like an eye candy.

Use it as "pen Drive". Activate "Mass Storage".

Buy a Data from Samsung Service centre - will cost u 900 Rs. Data cable Part no: GH39-00159A; serial no: PCB093LBE; and the PC Studio II 1.0 CD from there -that would be free i guess.

You missed out 2 important security features patented by Samsung - Mobile Tracker and SOS Message. Thats the USP of this Phone at this price - NO one , not even Nokia has these features in any of their phones

Motorola c168 comes at around the same price point(2.5k) and also has FM in it. I am using the phone now and it is too good to use.

Sony Ericsson's model in this price range is J230i, a bit costlier (Rs. 3000). But it packs a FM radio and comes with a speaker and headset.

how could you write a review without even mentioning the usp of the product,let alone giving details it.ie:theft protection and enhanced security.anyways it was informative because i knew the usp and was keen to know other aspects.
